The international superstar took viewers on a musical journey through many aspects of Latin culture.
Just one week after taking home the Grammy for Album of the Year, Puerto Rican musical artist Bad Bunny performed as the headliner of the Super Bowl LX halftime show. He is the first Latino and Spanish-speaking artist to perform the Super Bowl Halftime Show as a solo act.
Bad Bunny spoke and sang entirely in Spanish, besides a brief moment when he yelled, “God Bless America!” He played several of his hit songs, like “Tití Me Pregunto” and “DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS.” Ricky Martin and Lady Gaga also showed up, singing renditions of “Die with a Smile” and “LO QUE LE PASÓ A HAWAii,” respectively.
Many different aspects of Latin culture were on display during the performance, including live brass bands, street markets, weddings, and of course, singing and dancing. There was even a moment where Bad Bunny handed a young Latin child his recently won Grammy Award.
With nearly 20 billion streams on Spotify, Bad Bunny is widely considered to be the most popular musician in the world. Since the beginning of the decade, Bad Bunny has been the top artist on Spotify in terms of streams for four of the last five years.
On September 28th, 2025, Bad Bunny was officially announced as the headliner for the Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show. The decision was made by the NFL as part of a partnership with Apple Music and Roc Nation, the entertainment company founded by rapper Jay-Z.
“What I’m feeling goes beyond myself. It’s for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown,” Bad Bunny said in a statement following the announcement. “This is for my people, my culture, and our history.”
Bad Bunny put on a spectacular show, in this journalist’s opinion. Though I am not a fluent Spanish speaker, and I did not understand every single lyric that was sung, that ended up being inconsequential. The music created a vibe that was approachable for people from all corners of the globe. More importantly, the sound and rhythm he provided viewers was incredibly enjoyable and made for a very entertaining experience. Bad Bunny managed to transcend language barriers, giving us one of the best Super Bowl halftime shows we have seen in years. He did not have to say or do anything to combat the hatred that was peddled towards him and the NFL. He was able to share the most beautiful parts of his heritage with the rest of the world while being sensationally entertaining.
Not only did we learn more about Latin culture, but the choice to have him take centerstage at the Super Bowl proved to be an excellent one by the National Football League.
