Marcus Rashford has been ruled out of Barcelona’s Copa del Rey clash with Atletico Madrid tomorrow night due to injury.
Rashford came off midway through the second half of the 3-0 win over Real Mallorca on Saturday and it has now been confirmed he is suffering from a knee problem.
A club statement read: “Marcus Rashford has discomfort in his left knee derived from a blow received in last Saturday’s match against Mallorca at Camp Nou.
“He will be absent as a precaution for this Thursday’s match against Atletico Madrid.”
GIven Barcelona describe Rashford’s absence as “precautionary” it is not expected that the on-loan Manchester United man will be sidelined for a significant period.
Indeed, he may return for the weekend clash with Girona as Barca look to maintain their place at the top of La Liga.
Rashford joined the Catalan giants in July 2025 on an initial 12-month loan deal with Barca having the option to make the move permanent for a fee in the region of £30.3million.
The England international has thrived away from Old Trafford, scoring 10 goals and adding 10 assists in 34 appearances in all competitions.
His absence for the first leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final at the Metropolitano is a blow for boss Hansi Flick, who is likely to without another left-sided forward in Raphinha after the Brazil international missed training this morning.
